I accept appointment requests at all times via my booking form. It will initiate an email thread, this communication is the only way to receive an appointment. I do not book via my Instagram DMs.

Be sure to add “kaitlyn@frogsongtattoo.com” to your “safe senders” list! If not, my emails may get filtered as spam/junk mail.

Booking Process

What type of projects do you take on?

My interests and goals change with time, but themes that have remained consistent within my work are flora, fauna, and fungi. I may pursue the challenge of your idea if it is outside of these themes, however I strictly stay within my interests as they end with the most impassioned and quality piece for you.

I am most interested in anatomy-complimenting ornamental design of native flora, fauna and fungi at the moment. These requests will take priority over all other requests.

My other interests are gardening (fruit and vegetables, gardening tools, sun hats, seed packs, slugs, etc.), antiques, forest imagery, anthropomorphic creatures, and the random creations in my pre-drawns.

I prefer to draw all my own designs. Please do not ask me to replicate another artist’s work without written permission and proof of compensation to the original artist for their design.

Can I see your available pre-drawn designs ahead of my appointment?

Previews of my pre-drawn designs are available on my instagram @frogsong___.

Are pre-drawn designs repeatable?

Yes. I do retire designs that I tire of repeating, but they can come back out of retirement when I’m ready to tattoo them again. Repeating pre-drawns helps keep my creativity sustainable and my work accessible - if it is important to you to have a one-of-a-kind design, please book a custom appointment.

Can I see a custom design ahead of my appointment?

I do not send photos of drawings ahead of appointments. Each appointment has time allotted to review designs and make small changes in person. Your decision will not be rushed. I understand the want to see your tattoo design ahead of time but I am intentional in this policy becauset is more effective to communicate in person. Back and forth email communication about design edits tend to be inefficient and unsustainable for tattooers. It results in considerable unpaid labor.

When you book a custom design there is a dialogue and opportunity for you to provide direction for the design. If you are worried about not getting the idea translated via email I am available to schedule an in-person consultation.

If a larger design change or re-draw is necessary, a new appointment, new deposit and design fee are required. The deposit covers the day of tattoo work that I’d then miss, and the design fee covers the cost of the time I already spent on drawing/research/design time. Please note that this is very rare! Most of the time no changes or only minor ones are needed. As long as you have provided me with clarity in what you’re looking for I am confident that I can create the right design for you.

I only see black and gray work on your instagram, but I want color.

I am not the right artist for you! I do not do color tattoos at this time and I do not have colored inks at the studio.

How long will my tattoo take?

I offer 3 and 6 hour appointments with about an hour of cushioning. I physically cannot work outside of those restrictions - we will discuss the expectations of your tattoo ahead of time and I will honestly communicate how long I expect your tattoo to take within a range of times. It can be very difficult to provide an exact time estimate for your tattoo as there are countless variables beyond size including level of detail, placement, skin condition, etc. Large scale work will require multiple appointments for both my health and yours.

Size/Placement/Design Changes?

Size and placement changes can be made the day of, although this may affect the price and time estimate depending on the scale of the change. We will take time to review the tattoo together at the beginning of your appointment and make any small changes that may be necessary but, I do ask that you let me know at least a week before-hand if any major changes in what you want arise. The new design is subject to my discretion based on my ability. If I am not confident about the change I will communicate this to you and may cancel your appointment and you will forfeit your deposit.

Do you do cover-ups?

Very rarely. My technique does not work well with cover-ups unless the existing tattoo is small and light.

Policies

Deposit Policy

A $100 deposit is required for all appointments. They are non-refundable as they reserve my working time for your tattoo. Please ensure that you are ready to get tattooed, are prepared for the cost and time and are serious about your inquiry.

Please keep in mind that the deposit is intended to not only ensure that you are serious about your tattoo, but also to provide some form of income when last minute cancellations happen. A $100 deposit still does not adequately compensate a missed day for me, so please understand that last minute cancellations still leave me coming out behind. This is my sole income and I take my work seriously - please do the same for me!

Design Fee

A $150 design fee is required for all custom tattoos. This is a one time fee that covers the research, drawing, and designing time that I put into your tattoo before our appointment. Depending on the piece this can take me anywhere from a few hours to a few days. This fee will only apply to your first appointment of the tattoo, if it is multi-sessioned work you will not need to expect it to re-occur.

Reschedules and Cancellations

  • If you give me 72+ hours notice: you may reschedule your appointment once and your deposit will role over to our new session. Additional reschedules will require a new deposit each time.

  • If you need to reschedule with less than 72 hours notice: you forfeit your original deposit and will need to leave a new one to re-book.

Covid and other sicknesses

It is essential that you notify me if you are feeling unwell in any manner before your appointment so that we may reschedule. I will obviously do the same and reschedule if I have any concerns on my mind. If you come into the studio sick I will ask you to go home and your deposit will be forfeited. Not only will your tattoo have healing complications with a compromised immune system but you will also be bringing something potentially harmful to myself and my co-workers who will be put out of work for recovery - we do not get paid sick leave.
